My first bike was a 1955 Model 19 AJS. I was only 14 but my step dad kept catching me riding his 55 Matchless scrambler so he bought me the AJS. Rode it for several years and finally traded it for a 1940 Ford coupe.

I have a 63 TR6 SS currently and will be starting a 1953 BB34 Gold Star restoration in January.

I think your site is great. Check out www.vintagebike.co.uk He has tons of pictures including my TR6.

Best regards,

Doug Teeter Green Valley, AZ

Glad to find such a site.  Recently found a  1960 Matchless G1 pinto with 2613 original miles / 1967 licence plates.  So I'm needing information on what steps to take before I just try starting it up....  How to clean out gas tank etc.   Guess I'll be joining soon.  Thanks

Hi,

I have just become the proud owner of a 1960 Matchless TCS 600cc Typhoon that had been repatriated to the Mother Land by a previous owner. I would like to restore it to its former glory but as these were only for the American market. Therefore finding details/information very hard to find in England. I know that it is a model G80SC highbred but there were more subtle differences apart from just the engine. Can any one help?

Regards,

Nick

Hi all, sure hope you have gals here as well! I found a Matchless cycle appears to be a '58    350. I'm an english car guy and don't know the correct price to pay for it. Said to run and then stop. Local greese monkey not able to get it going, 12 years ago. Looks complete and in good shape. In basement and wants it out. Sounds like I would be doing the owner a favor. How much should I charge him to move it!!!!????!!!  Sure !funny guy!.........I am working on getting it but need to know what it's potential might be. HELP......Merrell

Great website - bought a '59 G11CS in 1968 and a '67 G15CS in 1993 though, since moving to BC Canada, I have never seen another Matchless. Looking to buy a 600 Typhoon - anybody selling?
